Andrew's Birthday Bash
It was a "roaring" success! I don't know about others but we had a lot of fun. And don't worry everyone, I saved the "Pin the horn on the dinosaur" game with all our names on it so we will have years of fun to come! Here are some of the pictures. And Cherilyn can you email me some of yours? I think you got some good ones too. And on a related note, Andrew did not go to bed until Midnight. He was a little wired from the sugar overload!

I Know, I Know...
It's been awhile. But there hasn't been too much going on. We are getting ready for Andrew's birthday next week. The big 01. We're having dinosaur cookies so this should be good!
We did go on our annual "look at fall leaves" drive through the Alpine Loop and we stopped by Cascade Springs. We brought a picnic but it was so cold that we just ate in the car. Not the same but Maddi now wants to more car picnics because apparently she had fun. Here are a few pictures! Enjoy!

Maddi kept pointing and yelling "WATERFALL!!" But there are a million of them all over the place so she was yelling it a lot.

Maddi Potter
I've wondered if telling Maddi she has magical powers will have any long term affect on her psyche. It's all in good fun right? I mean, one day she's going to figure out that there's no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny. But hopefully it won't be too traumatic when she finds out she doesn't actually have magical powers.
See it all happened when we were trying to get the PG house ready to rent. She was being fussy because we had been in the car a lot and so Jess told her that if she touched her forehead she could roll down her window. Low and behold she touched it and the window rolled down! Amazing! And when she touched it again it rolled back up! And when she taps her forehead it starts and stops too. It's not limited to just stoplights, it works at some stop signs too. But she was able to realize that she can't do it if the car is moving. But it's not just limited to the car, when we come home from anything she walks into the garage and puts her finger to her forehead and shuts the garage door. Then she looks at me and says "your welcome" and then walks into the house. I mean, what would I do without her and her magical powers?

Pavarotti
I was so sad that Pavarotti died! I was reading about it on the Internet and they had a link to the first video I had ever seen of him! When I took Humanities my first semester of college, our teacher told us the background to this video and then played it for us. Pavarotti had been performing his signature song "Nessun Dorma" in the Opera it was written for and his voice cracked on the high note. Everyone was saying he was over and he needed to step down. So they put on this concert to force him to perform it to show that he would crack again and that he was finished, basically it was to humiliate him. You can see there are thousands of people there. This video has it cut out, but all in front are all his colleagues and the critics and everyone gunning for his position, and they were all laughing before he starts singing. So he gets up there and he looks terrified but he NAILS it! I get goose bumps every time...

Wow what a night...
So last night we had the CRAZIEST storm! I know it was worse elsewhere in the state, but man it got pretty crazy here last night. Around 10:15 or so, Jess and were watching the weather on Channel 5 ( ironic I know) and Kevin Eubank was just about to tell us more about where the storm was when the power went out. At first we were saying "Hey cool, I love it when the power goes out" But then the kids started waking up. There's no ventilation in their rooms, so we have fans on them, so they woke up because they were hot. So we figured, what the heck? So we gathered them and their blankets and stuffed animals and had a party on our bed, where it was nice and cool and we could listen to the storm. We ate "Gorilla bars" and made shadow puppets. But after about an hour of that, we were tired. We set up Andrew's crib and had Maddi lay down between us.
Cut to an hour later and Maddi had asked to go to the bathroom 4 times and Andrew was still crying and Jess and I were exhausted. Maddi kept trying to tickle me and I was about to lose it. Finally at 2:30 the power came back on! YAY! so we banished the kids to their room and passed out.
Man, I used to LOVE it when the power went out. Not so much these days...
