Maddi's Birthday!!!

Maddi's Birthday was awesome! She wanted a Charlie and Lola party. Luckily we found a place on the Internet that had plates, cups and a pinata. We had a lot of fun! Here are some pictures.

Prepare Yourself...

Because I almost died of laughing when I saw the Mariachi ones...

We took Maddi's 4 year old pictures today. And since Andrew fit the Mariachi outfit, that Jesse wore when he was Andrew's age, we had his picture taken too. It fit like a glove! And here they are!

And the Piece De Resistance...

I would scan in Jesse's picture so you can compare, but it's packed away. I'll have to do it later.

Aaaaannnnddddddd........She's back!!!!

So you've all probably wondering where I've been. You've probably been dutifully checking my blog waiting for the next exciting tidbit of our exciting and fun-filled lives. I know, I know, you've been devoid of all meaning from your life, although I'm sure seeing my son down some soup has taken the edge off, I'm sure. But it's ok. I'm back. Dry your tears and keep reading.

Remember how I said I was sicky-Miss Sickerson? Well, I never got over it. It just kept getting worse and worse. So I finally decided last week that I should probably go to the Dr. So I called my Doctor and low and behold, she gone on leave. I asked if I could see another Dr and they said they usually don't see people for colds. *Sigh,* I miss my Dr. SHE would have helped me. So I went to a family practitioner. They said I was on the tail end of a sinus infection but here's some Amoxicillan and please come back for your annual exam. Yeah, no thanks. So over the next few days I began throwing up and getting really bad headaches. Come Friday, I called Jesse while he was on his way to work and said he needed to come home and take me to the hospital. Later that day when we got there, my headache was so bad. It was nothing I've ever felt ever felt before, even migraines. After a bunch of Morphine (ahhhhhh morphine) they decided to do a Spinal Tap. I was thinking
"Whoa Nelly, I just have a really bad sinus infection with a murderous headache and I just needed Morphine and now that I've have it, I will go home, thank you very much"
But I lost that argument and the did the spinal tap and the Dr . said
"You have some type of Meningitis and we are trying to determine whether or not it's Viral or Bacterial. We will begin treating both while we wait for the cultures to grow. Your head hurts because your brain is infected and swollen. We are going to admit you AND you'll be here the rest of your life"
(Ok he didn't say the rest of your life, but he might have well have.)

So over the next 4 days I was on a regimen of Morphine every 2 hours, Zofran (my personal favorite anti-nausea medication from my pregnancy days.) They did try to ween me off the morphine onto percocet, but after the return of a fever, and "The Great Headache of '08" and some vomiting (I know you didn't need to know that, but I figured the truth will set me free....from ever vomiting again) Back to the Morphine I went, and gladly. And then it took one whole hellish night to get caught up to "Happy Morphine" instead of "Yucky 'it still hurts' Morphine".

But finally when the Morphine doses were further and farther between, I asked to go home and try it on my own.

And that's where we are now. LOTS of percocet, zofran and Antibiotics. And lots of tv watching. I wish there wasn't a marathon of all the Bachelors on VH1 because I was never into the show, but now I'm mesmerized by all the silliness that goes on. I WOULD read, but my fragile head can't be bothered it seems.

So where were the kids all this time? I'm not sure. Probably eating ketchup out the bottle and running around naked in this enormous house creating little societies. Ok Just kidding. They were at my parents house, making cookies and eating strawberries but leaving the "hair" on. And I guess Andrew ate four bowls of spaghetti. It's like we never feed the kid. But a big thanks to the tag team of people who watched our kids. And a big thanks to mom and dad for finally feeding them. And to Annie for saving the day with chicken nuggets.

They did stop by before they left before they left, Maddi made be a card. She drew chicken soup with strawberries, a whale, happy faces of both Maddi and Andrew, and one angry Andrew face.

Anyway, now that I've caught you all up, I've exhausted myself and I need to take a nap.

Because that's all that sick people do.

Oh! And if I can take some pictures of my arms so you can see the stellar IV work of the nurses at Timpanogas Regional Hospital, I will. It's a wondrous purple and blue sight to behold.

*UPDATE*
I kind of forgot to let you all know that I don't have Bacterial Meningitis and they weren't so sure it was full blown Viral Meningitis they said for sure it was a lesser version of it. I sort of forgot to tell ya'll that so you didn't think I was on my death bed.
